Volubilis

Volubilis

The Roman ruins of Volubilis, the archaeological gem of the country. Located between wheat fields and olive groves, they constitute a veritable open-air mosaic museum. We will discuss the colonization of North Africa by the Romans, from the destruction of Carthage in 146 BC until the invasion by the Vandals in 430 AD. Then, we stop in the holy city of Moulay Idriss, built on two rocky spurs. We will also evoke the figure of Idriss I, who converted the Berbers to Islam. (Access to his tomb is prohibited for non-Muslims).
